The Republic of Macedonia and the State of Israel established diplomatic relations in December 1995.
Relations between the two countries are characterized by traditional friendship and endeavor to strengthen the cooperation in all fields of mutual interest.
The opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Macedonia in Tel Aviv in July 2008 represents a very important step towards the further intensification of the relations between the two countries, relations which continue to mark a very positive and strong development.
On the political level, it should be noted that the President of the Republic of Macedonia dr. Gjorgje Ivanov visited the State of Israel in October 2009, the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Nikola Gruevski visited the State of Israel in January 2010 and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Mr. Avigdor Liberman visited the Republic of Macedonia in May 2010.
The two countries have also intensified their cooperation in the fields of economics, culture, science and public health, as can also be seen from the visits at the ministerial level that have taken place since the opening of the Embassy to date.
