DEPUTY MFA PETROV MET NEWLY APPOINTED AMBASSADOR OF CANADA H.E. ROMAN WASCHUK
Skopje, 29 September 2011 year

Today, Mr. Zoran Petrov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, has received the copies of the Letters of Credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Macedonia, resident in Belgrade, H.E. Mr. Roman Waschuk.

Wishing the Ambassador warm welcome to the Republic of Macedonia, Deputy MFA Petrov has expressed his pleasure with the appointment of the new Ambassador of Canada to Macedonia, Deputy Petrov has also wished the Ambassador success in the performance of his responsible duty, presenting the expectation that the successful cooperation and the favourable progressive trend in the excellent relations between the Republic of Macedonia and Canada will continue during the Ambassador’s mission. Deputy Petrov has also emphasized that in the forthcoming period Macedonia would expect further advancement of the cooperation following the same intensive dynamics, as well as further intensification of the bilateral political dialogue at all levels and strengthening of the cooperation in the multilateral setting.

Furthermore, Deputy MFA Petrov has expressed appreciation for the thus far open and consistent support by Canada to the Republic of Macedonia in the processes far its Euro-Atlantic integration, especially with respect to Macedonia's NATO integration. In addition, he has underlined that Macedonia would hope for even stronger support in the coming period with a view to prompt effectuation of the invitation to the Republic of Macedonia to join the Alliance.

Ambassador Waschuk has welcomed the excellent political relations, as well as the continual political dialogue between the two countries, reaffirming the strong and consistent Canadian support to the prompt effectuation of the invitation to Macedonia to join the Alliance. In conclusion, the Ambassador has emphasized the readiness of Canada to help friendly Macedonia to attain its goals.
