The diplomatic relations between Macedonia and Hungary were established in 1994. The billateral political relations are at a high level with a regular communication in all fields, such as the economy, defence, internal affairs, and protection of the environment. The two countries have a tradition of coordination and mutual suppport.
In the period of 2010-2011 a series of high level visits took place, such as one official and two working visits of the Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Hungary, a state visit of the President of the Republic of Macedonia to Hungary, and an official visit of the Prime Minister of Hungary to Macedonia, when the new Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the two countries was signed.
A priority for the further expansion of the excellent political relations is their translation in the field of the economy where there is a significant potential for advancement from the current modest trade ballance, for which all legal foundations have been laid.
On a regular, annual basis, the chambers of commerce from the two countries meet at business formums, the last being the one held in Skopje in May 2011 with the presence of the two prime ministers. |
