Republic of Macedonia and the Swiss Confederation are having friendly relations, without open issues.
The  nationals of the Republic with permanent residence in Swiss Confederation - 62,000, contribute to the deepening of mutual friendly bilateral relations.
Working visit of the MFA of Swiss Confederation, Micheline Calmy – Rey to Skopje, on 29/03/2008, and the visit of the MFA of the Republic of Macedonia, Antonio Milososki to Bern, on 4.05.2009 contributed to the further deepening of the political and economic cooperation.
Although not a member of the EU and NATO, the Swiss Confederation gives full support to the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia, despite all the odds in the process.
Regarding  the « name issue » the Swiss Confederation still  retains  a  typical Swiss  compromise : bilateral recognition of  the  Macedonia's  constitutional  name,  while  using  the reference on the multilateral level.
         Swiss Confederation
is one of the countries that continually give support to the Republic of Macedonia. Swiss support for the Republic of Macedonia, primarily consists of projects supporting decentralization, promotion of small enterprises, organizational development of NGOs, environmental education and increasing the exports of small and medium companies.
